Dave,
Did any of your Colvin's go to Ireland ?? My Colvin's were from Scotland ?? I don't know at this stage where from but I do know when they left they went to County Antrim.. two of my great grandfather's brothers went back to Scotland to work for a while and then came back to Ireland. One of the ones (David) that went to Scotland ended up in New York. as did two of his brothers (Andrew & William ) and also one of his sisters (Isabella). I was told that there was an uncle (possibly George) that the family met up with in NEW YORK however I have not found that connection yet.
What names do you have in your family as this is sometimes a good indication.
