I had the name of the person I am looking for wrong! I am searching for Charner Burdette Colvin and Mahala Ann Shelton - not Charmer and Mahalia. I've found a Charner Knight and a Burdett Colvin in Pontotoc County, MS in the 1850 census. There are also a lot of Shelton families in that county. My Charner was born in Nov of 1851.
