Does anyone know anything about this Colvin family? Is this story familiar to anyone? All we know is that my husband's greatgrandmother, Irene (Colvin) Dean, was born somewhere down in Kentucky around the time of the Civil War. She was very little, when her mother went down to the spring to get water, and never returned. No one knows if she was killed by a soldier, a wild animal, or if she ran off. No trace of her was ever found. At some unknown year later, Irene Colvin and her father (first name not known) appeared in Union County, Ohio. She was of marriageable age at that time, and in 1885 her father forced her to marry James Thompson Dean against her will, as she was in love with another, wealthy farmer who jilted her and married someone else. Irene and James Dean had four daughters: Ethel Mary (married Levi Lowe) Georgia (married Frank Gamble in 1906) Lona Ida C. Irene and James Thompson Dean eventually moved to Columbus, Ohio, where all their daughters lived. Notify Administrator about this message?
