Who is William Coltrain deceased by 1761?
In the Probate Records of Plymouth County, MA (FHL 551544) I found a handwritten document in which my ancestor John Coltrain (between ages of 14 and 21) states that his father is William Coltrain of North Carolina. Does anyone have a guess to who this might be?
Del Argyle in 2000 suggested that David Coltrane born in 1711 had an older brother by the name of William. (I have not found a birth for this name in the Wigtown OPR's.Although there are names of Robert, Alexander and Thomas also born to Patrick Coltrane and Elizabeth Stewart from 1708 to 1710.)
Looking forward to anyone's help.
