Hi Gordon
The Lewis & Clark Society of America of Illinois will be sponsoring their 2nd Annual Camp River Dubois Descendant’s Mess on May 14th 2005 at the Lewis & Clark State Historic Site (LCSHS) at Alton IL. This will be the second year for this event and the Society is hoping to establish the Mess as an annual event.
Corp of Discovery Descendants can register by email to [email protected] send a note to: Lewis & Clark Society of America.

I don’t know if other descendants had heard about the Mess but wanted to pass the word. Mom and I attended last year and thoroughly enjoyed the first event, meeting all the other descendants as well as the Museum where the event was held. If you haven’t been to the Lewis & Clark Society of America of Illinois Museum, please ensure you have an extra couple of hours to tour it. It is one of the best Lewis & Clark Expeditions exhibits I’ve seen.
Mike Kaufman – a descendant of Toussaint Charbonneau - is a member of the L&C Society of America and a great point of contact for information concerning the Descendant’s Mess.
I will coming all the way from Washington State to attend.
Respectfully, Catherine Jett (descendant of JOHN COLTER of the L&C Expedition)
