Decatur County Journal-Iowa
Thursday, July l2, l9l7

MISS HANNAH C. EURITT was born May 8, l850, in Highland County, Virginia, and departed this life in Decatur City, July 7, l9l7, at the age of 67 years, one month and 29 days. She came with her parents from Virginia to Washington County, Iowa in l850, moving from there to Decatur County, where she lived until her death.

She was married to GEORGE W. JONES in the fall of l867, and to this union six children were born, JOHN W., RICHARD E., ERNEST M., GEORGE L., JAMES F. and GRACE JONES, all of whom were with her during her last brief illness save GRACE, who died in infancy. Her husband, GEORGE W. JONES died April 5, l880, leaving to the mother the care of the children until April 6, l887.

April 6, l887, she was united in marriage to W.H. COLTER and to this union four children were born, NORA and HAZEL, who survive and live at home, two boys having died in infancy. Besides her children and husband she leaves two sisters and two brothers, MRS. NORA JONES, MRS. W.J. HANNER, JAMES EURITT, all of Decatur County, and F.M. EURITT, of Cedar Falls, and a host of friends.

In the death of this woman the family has lost a devoted wife and mother and wise councellor, the community a noble character. Although she has been a constant sufferer for months she never complained, always patiently devoting her time to others, and we will say as did Paul, "She has fought a good fight, she has finished her course; henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness which the Lord shall give her in that day, and not only to her but unto all them that love his appearing." 2 Tim. 7:8. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.M. Hedges, assisted by Henry Esch and Abner H. Johnson, and were held at the home.

In our late bereavement in the departure of this life of our wife, mother and sister, many friends expressed their most sincere love and deepest sympathy and to these many friends we are sincerely grateful.
