I have a relative in the Isle of Man, an island in the Irish Sea, that has traced our family back to 1216. The name began as Caldecot or Calcott. Evidently the name is derived from a city, Calcott, in County Chester in England. The name changed to Colquitt when Stanley, babtised as Calcott, was married as Stanley Colquitt in 1788.
