I am searching for descendants of Reuben Henry Colquitt, b. 1798 Oglethorpe Co, Ga, d. 1827 Franklin Co, TN, md. c1818 to Priscilla (--?--), and had 3 children: (1) Nancy b. c1820 md. Gideon Phillips, two children; (2) Samuel Colquitt, d. abt 1836 in TX, never married; and (3) Matilda M. Colquitt, b. 1826 Franklin Co, TN, c. 1899 Athens, AL, md. c1847 Franklin or Grundy Co, TN, to Tyre David Smith, and had nine children, six of whom survived to adulthood.
Reuben Henry Colquitt is one of the 12 chldren of Samuel Colquitt (b. 1762 Cumberland Co, VA, d. 1843 Franklin Co TN s/o John Colquitt b. 1726/1727 Essex Co, VA, d. 1800 Oglethorpe Co, GA, and Elizabeth Hendrick b. 1732 d. 1809 Oglethorpe Co, GA);
Samuel Colquitt md. wife Martha "Mollie" Woodruff and had twelve children.
Samuel's father, John Colquitt, b. 1726/1727, d. 1800 Oglethorpe Co, GA, md. Elizabeth Hendrick. In turn, John Colquitt was s/o John Colquitt b. 1682 d. Jul 1769 Cumberland Co, VA, and Anne Hawes b. 1692 d. 1761.
Samuel Colquitt, a brother, Robert, and their father, John Colquitt were soldiers in the Revolutionary War. Please contact me with information about Samuel's son, Reuben Henry Colquitt.
All of my data about the Colquitt family are from the multivolume genealogy compiled by Judge Zelma Wells Price published abt 1965 which traces the Colquitt family back to John and Joan Colquitt in the year 1513 in the Isle of Guernsey, St Sampson's Parish, of the Channel Islands off the coast of Normandy.
I would appreciate any other information you can give as there are no data which refer to the descendants of Reuben Henry Colquitt and his wife Priscilla.
