My grandmother, who is Sidney Burkhalter Colquitt's daughter, had someone put together all of the family's history into a family tree in 1963. She was nearly 30 at the time of Oscar Branch's death, and she knew him well. I trust in the accuracy of the family tree I have, and Oscar is not a direct descendant of Robert Colquitt. He is a direct descendant of Anthony Colquitt.
Oscar's father was Thomas Jefferson Colquitt, whose father was Thomas Colquitt who married Elizabeth Franklin. Thomas Colquitt's father was John Terry Colquitt, who married Alice Dickie. John Terry's father was Anthony Colquitt, who married Christiana Terry. Anthony Colquitt's father was John Colquitt, the third John Colquitt to bear that name, who was born in 1682 in Virginia, and died in 1769.
