Maroun or Maron SABA - Minnesota 1914
Greetings!
I am beginning to create a family tree on my paternal grandmother's side. Her name was Mary Saba Hutchins and her father was Maroun or Maron (spelling on ship manifest)Saba. My grandmother was born in Syria according to the manifest and my great grandfather was born in Arabia. They came to the U.S. in 1914 through Ellis Island and came straight to Minnesota where my Great Grandfather's brother John was already residing. The manifest lists my grandmother' name as Adra which I believe is actually the name of the town in Syria where she was born. When they departed Lebanon, they actually went to Colombia first and that is where my great aunt Marion was born. My understanding is that some family members that left with them from Lebanon actually stayed in Colombia. My grandmother had about twelve siblings, most of whom where born here in Minnesota.
What I am hoping to find is how to access ship records out of Colombia to trace them back to Lebanon. Hoping someone on the boards may recognize this story. Also listed on the manifest was a Christian Saba that I am not sure if he was my great grandfather's brother or cousin.
