I am searching for other Irish Butler descendants from my Kalamazoo, Michigan Butler family. The following was taken from "The Augustinian," a publication of Saint Augustine's Catholic Church, April 11, 1925. "The Kalamazoo Daily Telepgraph of December 27, 1892, carried the following account of the Christmas service: "Solemn Midnight Mass was celebrated. Legeal's grand Christmas Mass was rendered with orchestral accompaniment. The choir numbered seventy persons. The offeratory was sung by Master Jimmie Butler, a little surpliced lad with golden locks of five summers, the guitar and mandolin accompanied him." Jimmie Butler, who is married and has two little sons and daughters, received his commission as Captain in the U.S. Army Engineer Officers' Reserve Corps from President Coolidge recently, and is now living at Barranquilla, Columbia, S.A. Jimmie graduated from Lefevre Institute, and was a student at Kalamazoo College for some time before leaving for the Isthmus of Panama, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Butler, former members of this parish, have resided for the past twenty years." Jimmie Butler's parents were: James E. Butler, born 1856 in Michigan and Margaret Twomey March 17, 1859 in Maidstone Township, Essex County, Ontario, Canada. Jimmie Butler's siblings were: Gabrielle Butler; Aileen Butler who married Frank Flynn; Veronica Butler who died at Niagra Falls; Thomas Butler; Mary Maysel who married Arthur Goulet; Margaret Cecelia who married a McCormick; Mary Butler who married a Gallagher; and Michael Twomey Butler. Please contact me if you have any information on my family. Thanks Brett Notify Administrator about this message?
