Although I do not yet have a certain connection from the Collyers of NJ/Butler County, Ohio to Warren County, Indiana, I may have a few aditional items to share with you.

Mary K. Guinn has just sent sent me some information proving that the Thomas Collyer who bought property in Blooming Grove, Franklin County, IN (1830)WAS NOT of the New Jersey family. He was born in Virginia, and she has that family documented. My apologies for following that false lead as long as I did.

Thomas Collyer of Butler County must have had some descendants in Indiana - perhaps your family of Warren County - but I am wondering if you are any closer to proof of that than the last time we corresponded?

I copy the following section from an Indiana DAR publication I noted in the spring:

From A Roster of Revolutionary Ancestors of the Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution, Indiana DAR and Thomas Martin Egan, Evansville, IN, Unigraphic, 1976, vol. 1, pages 131-132:

"COLLYER, THOMAS, Lt., b. 1744, d. 24 Aug. 1834, m. Dec. 1815, (2) Mary McAdams, b. 1775, d. after 1834. SERVICE: Collyer, Thomas enlisted in 1775 and served until the close of the war. He was First Lieut. in the Somerset Co., New Jersey militiamen Captain Gonen McCoy's and Israel Rickey's companies in Col. Frelenghuysen's regiment. He was in the battles of Piscataway, Short Hills, Monmouth, Springfield and Elizabethtown. Children: Mary, m.________; Ira, b. 8 Jan., 1817 m. Martha Ann Roberts. DESCENDANT: Ballard, Martha Griffith (Mrs. Mark), No. 529773."

I need to pursue the lineage of Mrs. Ballard to see if another publication might clear up matters for us. I haven't found anything on her online, but will check in pulished material when I next get to a large library.
