It is well documented that Jabez always spelled the name COLLVER. He may have been the first in his line to read and write and several documents bearing his signature still survive, some of which I have photocopies. Understand your frustration ... the US genealogists tend to lose track of him when he migrated to Canada. But there is much information available about him from the Norfolk County (Ontario) Historical Society.
They have a "Collver-Culver" genealogy compilation, in loose leaf notebook form, assembled for the reunion of 1976 and available at modest price. Another excellent source is "Pioneer Sketches of Long Point Settlement", originally published 1898, reprinted by the NHS in 1986. Both available from NHS at 109 Norfolk St., South,
Simcoe, Ont N3Y 2W3 or their web site www.norfolklore.com. Both of these documents reflect much accurate information about Jabez, whereas I've found many other sources to be incomplete or in error.
