Shannan, fabulous information to go along with some research unconnected to the Collinsworth family I am doing. The data I gathered is from a letter of Wm. Blount, governor of the Territory south of the Ohio, to the Secretary of War in which he lists approx. 120 settlers in TN who were killed, wounded, or captured by Indians. In his list, he gave no first names for the Thompson family except one, which was Elsey. He states that 4 Thompsons were killed with Elsey (Alice) taken prisoner. The dates, location (4 miles from Nashville) and Indian tribe match exactly as does the reference to Peter Caffrey's wife and child being captured. Also, in the same list, there is a reference to John Collinsworth and Mrs. Collinsworth being killed on the Chickasaw Trace in February, 1792 by Cherokees. Miss Collinsworth was taken prisoner and at the time the list was compiled (undated but I would guess late 1792) she had been located in Nickajack with the Cherokees but not ransomed. Best of wishes, Billy Markland Notify Administrator about this message?
