Edmond Collinsworth (Collingsworth) enlisted in the VA Militia in Montgomery Co., VA in 1776, serving three years and receiving bounty land which he sold. Edmond’s final pay was picked up by his step-father, who was not named on the voucher. He went briefly to KY, then to Davidson Co., Tn where he married Alice Thompson in 1795. They reared their children there. Edmond had a brother, John, who served the three years with Edmond, and who also sold his bounty land. John’s Revolutionary War pension application said that John was born in 1763 in Culpeper Co., VA. Edmond had no pension papers, but family history says that he was born about 1760. I am looking for information about, and proof of, the parents of Edmond and John. Family history says that their father was David Collinsworth. According to autobiographical papers of John Cockrill, Jr., Edmond’s half brother, Edmond's father was deceased by 1774. I have not been able to locate David in public records so far. He may have been in the area of King William Co., VA at one time. Any help in finding records on David will be greatly appreciated. Carolyn
