I have been researching my Davis/Collins family in the Orange/Chatham Co N.C. areas in the mid to late 1700's. My 6th Grt Grandfather was Rev. Elnathan Davis b. abt 1735 in MD. He moved to Virginia and then to N.C. and this is where he began his ministry. It is said that he began to preach conversion work. He married a Mary Collins in Old Orange/Chatham Co N.C. in 1752. They had the following Children: Elnathan b 1753, Martha b. 1755, Rebecca b. 1756, Hannah b. 1760, Rutha b. 1761, Benjamin b. 1763(My 5th Grt Grandfather), James b. 1765, Nathaniel b. unknown, and Jonathan b. 1771. All of their children are believed to have been born in the Orange/Chatham Co. N.C. area. My 5th Grt Grandfather, Benjamin m. (1) UNKNOWN. This was my 4th Grt Grandfather Benjamin Jr's mother. Benjamin Sr m. (2) Elizabeth Daniels, 1786 in Chatham Co. N.C. She was born 1769 in Orange/Chatham Co N.C. What I am searching for is, Who were Mary Collins' parents? Who was Benjamin Sr's first wife? Does anyone have any information on the Collins Family in this area at this time? If anyone has any information on these families, I would be very grateful if you could forward it on to me. Thanks.
