Charlotte, do you have any information on Collingsworths that may have been in SC in about 1840-45 and/or may have been living in Pike County, AL in 1869.
I am looking for links to my G5 grandmother Catherine Collingsworth who married a Uriah Beaman.Their daughter married John William Quattlebaum in Pike County, AL or maybe Hunt Cty., TX when he was 19 in 1869 – we have been Texas ever since. The Quattlebaums moved to Texas in 1869, and I suspect that the marriage occurred just before the move, so that the Beamans were probably in Pike County, AL. in 1869.
What is the national origin of Collingsworth? The Quattlebaums were from Paltine Bavarians and have been in Saxa Gotha (Columbia) SC since 1749 after migrating through Philadelphia for a few years stay.
John William's father Wilkes moved to Pike County, AL in about 1851.The Quattlebaums went back and forth between SC and Alabama during between 1830 and 1860s so that John William could have met Catherine in either place.
Any leads will be greatly appreciated.
