Monte,
I understand this is a possibility, though I cannot directly document it. According to a 1785 deed I have a copy of, Zebulon owned land bordering his brother William and brother-in-law George Crist (who married Elizabeth Collings, sister of Zebulon, William Elston, Spenser, and Thomas Collings; *Thomas and Spenser served with George Crist in the Jefferson County Militia under General George Rogers Clark. Thomas served with Spenser and George in 1782, while Spenser served with George in both 1780 and 1782, which I can prove with payrolls*)in Virginia (This deed was made in Jefferson County, Virginia, which would become part of Kentucky 7 years later). Zebulon's father, William Edward Collings supposedly was from New Jersey or Pennsylvania area. William Edward Collings' proved will indicates he died in Nelson County, Virginia in December of 1787(this area would become part of Kentucky when it became a state in 1792).
P.S. I believe Zebulon signed a petition in 1780 (and/or maybe the one in 1778) that would qualify him as having performed Patriotic Service, so his direct descendants could join the Sons of the American Revolution (of which I am a member through another line).
