INGS - Saxon, the people of, so, the people of Coll, or Coll's people. Coll Ings
Also, the Collins with Irish roots - Collins = Cullen, or O'Cullen, meaning WHELP in Celt, sometimes YOUNG DOG in polite terms.
My guess is that they are all valid and not all Collins/ Collings are related, their ancestors having come by their name for all reasons listed.
