Marsha,
No luck on finding the correct Mary Collier in my files. I'm not aware that any of my South Shore Mass. families went to Connecticut for many generations.
I can offer two possibilities, in case you aren't familiar wioth them already:1) In early New London County there were COLVERS, OR CULVERS, descended from - I believe - Edward, who was in Dedham, Mass. in the 1630s. Among his sons or grandsons was a GERSHOM COLVER, which name nearly gave me a heart attack when I first ran across it. (There were several Gershom COLLIERS in my family.) 2) An early Collier family in Conn. was that of Joseph, wife Elizabeth, who was in or near Hartford about 1668. Either of these 2 families might contain your Mary, but I don't have any extensive file on them. The quick Google and RootsWeb search I did this evening doesn;'t give anything on Mary's (Collier) Dewey's ancestry, as you said.
You can find information on those 2 Conn. families online, perhaps reliable enough to determine whether your Mary belonged to either one.
Good luck in your research.
Wade Collier
