Thanks for the abundance of information.I came across the will of John Collier from 1732 and wondered about his connection to Moses Johnson.See below.I've been trying to sort out the connection of Johnson to the Webb family of Surry County in the early and mid-1700s.There was some common connection between the Webbs, Freemans, Jones, Stokes, Loftin, Bell and Capell. The Albemarle Parish records show that Sarah Capell was 102 when she died in 1763!!!Moses Johnson was responsible for the burial.Do know anything about that relationship?
What was the connection between Moses Johnson and John Collier of Surry County, Virginia, in the early 1700s?He is mentioned in Collier’s will probated in 1732 as a beneficiary and as one of the executors?Collier gave his son Charles into Johnson’s care until he turned 21.
Collier, John:Leg. - to daughter, Mary, one guinea, and to Moses Johnson, one guinea, to son, William, bequest. To son Thomas, land.To daughter, Grace, (illegible), to son, Benjamin. To son, Charles, houses and plantation. To son Henry, all the rem. of my land.(this will is partly obliterated from water stains and not decipherable}.All remainder of my money and pewter to be divided between my sons, Benjamin, Henry and the remainder of estate after debts are paid to be delivered by the same three, Charles, Henry and Benjamin by lot.Give son , Henry, to son William, until he is 21 yrs. old.Gives son, Charles, to Moses Johnson, until he is 21 yrs. old.Makes, Moses Johnson, son, John, and son, Thomas, Exers.3 July, 1732.Prob.: 15, Nov., 1732.Wit: Wm.
