Julia A. Harwell, born c1856 in AL, grew up in Alabama in the Opelika vicinity, and married a Mr. Collie sometime between the 1880 census (when Julia still lived with her mother) and 1896. According to the Feb 1896 obituary of Julia's widowed mother, Emma (Slaughter) Harwell, "Her daughter, Mrs. Collie, from Illinois, visited her a few weeks before her death. Sister Harwell said to her, 'Julia, it has been so long since I saw your father, you know I must be anxious to go and be with him.' "
I have checked the 1900 soundex for IL and AL for a Collie having wife Julia, but no luck. Does anyone know who this Mr. Collie might be, and what became of him and Julia?
