Hello,
I have recently started tracing our family history and I came across the Collie Family Genealogy web site and wondered if I have a connection with anyone.
My Grandmother was called Margaret Ann Collie born c1885 in Mortlach an area in Dufftown, Scotland. From memory that I recall as a youngster she had at least two other sisters Elizabeth (Lizzie), who lived in the Eastfield district of Glasgow until she died in the early 1960's and Janet who lived somewhere in Kent and died in the late 1960's or early 1970's. I do not not know if they were older or younger than my grandmother, I believe that Lizzie never married but Janet did. In 1901 Margaret was working as a kitchen maid in Paddington, London for a lady who originated from the Banff area. She married my grandfather John McIntyre c1909, they had two sons John Maurice b1910 (my father) and Thomas Alexander b1911. John, Maurice and Thomas are all McIntyre family names, which makes me believe that Alexander could possibly be my Great Grandfathers name and I would suspect he was born c1860. Looking at the site Alexander and Margaret appear to be family names for the Collie's. Margaret died 7th December 1966 aged 81 years in Bolton, Lancashire.
