Looking for siblings and more information on NOAH FLEETWOOD COLLIE b. 07/1886 in Montgomery County Alabama, d. about 1952 in Donie, Freestone County, TX. Buried in Wilson Chapel Cemetery, Freestone Co., TX.

Noah's mother was ELIZABETH (LIZZIE OR POLLY) YOUNG. She married a "BILL" (WILLIAM?)COLLIE who disappeared. Later she married MR. WHITE and moved to Texas where she died in 1928 with burial in an unmarked grave in a cemetery near Kirkland, TX.

Noah married IDA EMMALINE CRYE in Hubbard, Hill Co., TX in 1906. Their children are (in no particular order):

Ruby or Rubye Collie Pharris, (died in Tarrant Co., TX)
Tylas Dempsey Collie, b. 02/07/1911, d. 12/18/1976
(buried in Union Cemetery, Freestone Co., TX)

Tessie Modene Collie Tims, (b. 09/22/1922, d. 01/29/1998)

TX)
Bessie Ailene Collie Nesbitt, (died in Sandusky, Ohio)
Ray Collie, currently living in San Angelo, TX
Twins, died at birth or shortly thereafter (other info
unknown)

Family legend says that Noah's father, Bill, married Grandma Polly (Elizabeth or Lizzie)but disappeared when the money portion of her dowry was gone, leaving her with several children, a few cows and some land. When Noah came of age (some say 21 and others say 18), the family (including Grandma Polly, Mr. White and all the remaining children) sold the land and moved to Texas, arriving in the Nachitoches area where they stayed for a few months before moving on to the Hubbard, Hill Co. area.

The story continues with "Bill" contacting Noah by letter in the late 1920's or early 1930's, asking to meet Noah at the train station in Teague, TX. "Bill" is believed to have been residing in southeastern Texas or Louisiana at that time. Although unknown for certain, it is believed Noah did meet with "Bill" but had no further contact with his "father." Grandma Polly (Elizabeth or Lizzie) and Ida Emmaline had strongly forbidden Noah to meet with his father. However, because "ladies" didn't go out unescorted, they were unable to follow Noah to town to stop the meeting.

Noah's occupations while in Teague TX included: freight line (using horses and wagon), a taxi service (using a horse and carriage then a "touring" car), owned an "open dome" (drive-in?) movie, farmer, and road worker for the WPA. He also farmed and worked as a migrant worker (picking cotton) while living in the Kirkland and Dimmit areas of Texas.

Diseases that seem to be prevalent in this side of the family are heart trouble (including stroke), diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.

The above information was abstracted from discussions with:

Joy Dean Collie Misseldine (d. Tylas Dempsey Collie),
currently residing at the "old home place" in Donie,
TX
Ray Collie (s. Noah F. and I. Emma Collie), currently
residing in San Angelo, TX
and my memories, few as they are.
