My step-dad was William Carlton Colgate, Sr. He was born on 8-21-23 in Nasvhille to John Colgate and Pearl Jones Colgate. He was one of twelve children(including 2 sets of twins). The children were: Joseph(or John)and Josepine(1st set of twins), William(Bill), Eugene(Gene), Charles(Charlie),Harold(whose twin is Carol), Elmer(Pete), Shirley, Sara, Barbara(Bobbie) and another daughter that died when still a baby(I don't remember her name). The only surviving son is Charlie. All the daughters are still alive, as far as I know. My "dad"(my biological father died when I was 18 months old, so I consider my step-dad my "Dad")married my mother, Dorothy Ruth Shaver Tyler on 8-18-56 in Corinth, MS. They had three daughters: Carla Susan(Susie) Colgate , DOB 12-18-57, Andrea(Andi) Jane Colgate, DOB 8-1-59, and Laurie Ruth Colgate, DOB 12-7-60. Our dad was in the Navy, he was a radio-technician first class on a C118 when it went down in the Atlantic Ocean on 1-26-61. Our mom never remarried. She passed away on 1-28-88. Susie married Wayne Griffin on 3-2-81. They have three children, Lauren Nicole Griffin, Jared(Bo) Wayne Griffin, and William(Bill)Winter Griffin. Andi is married to Larry Joe Lutes and they have a son, Steven Zane Lutes. Laurie is divorced and has three sons, William Jesse(Jake)McCloud, a set of twins: Joshua Cody and Joseph Allen(deceased) McCloud. My dad was married previously to a Eugenia Violet(don't remember her last name, but she remarried several times--so we heard, after dad divorced her). She had two children during their marriage: William(Billy) C. Colgate, Jr. and Thomas(Tommy) E. Colgate. The last we had heard Billy was living in California and Tommy was in the Salt Lake City area of Utah.
We have looked for years for information on the Colgate side of the family. We would like to know the origins of the family, ie: English, Irish, etc. and if there are any other "kin" out there. We appreciate all the info. Thanks. Cheryl Tyler Colgate Massey
