My husbands grandfather was Ocie Colegate 1906 the son of Willard Colegate and Opha Beadles born out of Wedlock ( Willard was married to Mary Williams or Adamson) Willard was the son of Joseph Colegate froom Lockart Pike Co. Indiana, Joseph Sr moved to Indiana from Russel, St. Lawrence Co. New York. though he originated in England.
I notice William Colgate( also from England the soap manufacture lived in New York City at the time , He also had a son Joseph.
Are these families the same I've noticed the E on and off when referring to this family but the toothpast is Colgate.Where the Colegates lived in Indiana is now Coleegae Indiana do you know when and how it became so.
