Thanks so much for your note.
I don't have my grandfather's birth certificate, but during his life he always went by Alfred Joseph, or Alfie, rather than Joseph Alfred. As you know, he married Annie Elizabeth Bellefontaine in Nova Scotia. They moved to Reading, Massachusetts sometime betweeen 1922 and 1924. They had four children including my father, Alfred Edward, b. December 24, 1924, d. May 7, 2001. The other three siblings are still living, but I'll be glad to give you the information in a private email. Alfie and Annie moved back to Chezzetcook about 1960, then they moved to Dallas, Texas, somewhere in the early 70s to live near their youngest daughter. Alfie died April 22, 1977 and Annie died November 11, 1991, both in Dallas.
Several of my grandfather's siblings also moved to Reading during the 20s and 30s. Let me know if you need information about them. I visited Chezzetcook once, more than 20 years ago, but I'd like to plan another visit sometime in the next year or two.
