The way to do genealogy is, when faced with a problem like: "But when I looked up Robt. born 15 Jun 1780, everyone has a different Robt Coleman who died in 1854, Hanover Co VA." is to ask "everyone" for there sources.
HINT: If they cite Ancestry.com then you likely will be ahead if you disregard it unless some secondary support can be found.
