From deed records, it seems that Jonathan, Jacob and Conrad were tied together well before the American Revolutionary War. That was deducted from the abstracted land records recorded at Charleston before the War.
Research is continuing on both Lindsay and Jesse. They came to South Carolina much later. Jesse is of great interest as that name was passed along by Francis Coleman of Edgefield County. (That suggests a kinship between the first Jesse in Edgefield County and Francis, although that conclusion is TOTALLY unproven.)In future installments, it is my intention to identify as many of the Colemans of Abbeville and Edgefield Counties before 1830 as possible with their respective families, but with the necessary documentation. Unfortunately, my research schedule has hit roadblocks a few times and I'm behind schedule.
