Molton / Motton C. Coleman, is the C for Cicero b 1851, son of John Frank of Bur
For several years I've tried to find out more information on Cicero Coleman, son of John, and from the information I had been given 40 years ago...Cicero's mother was Mary E. As time has gone by and I've gathered more names and viewed more census records on this family, I need to clear up a few things.
I've done some census searches for Upper Creek, Burke County, North Carolina and this is what I have and have not found. I have NOT run into a Mary E. for John Frank Coleman, but it could be that it was a marriage before he was married to Catherine / Katy / Katie. There is also a Sarah that popped up in the 1860 census, but no Catherine or Katy is listed in John Frank Coleman's household for that year. There was a Catherine in 1850. The 1870 census shows Katy and the 1880 census as Catherine. Is the 1850 Catherine the same as the 1870 and 1880 Katy / Catherine? Where does the Sarah fit in? Where does Mary E. fit in?
Also...was Cicero a middle name? The 1860 census does not have a Cicero, but has Motton C. that is the same age as Cicero on our tree. Is the C. for Cicero? The 1870 census lists him as Molton.
Five of my children descend from Cicero Coleman who married Judy / Julia Ann Thompson and I want to be sure their branches are growing in the right direction. John Frank Coleman is a dead end on their tree and any information on his siblings and parents, etc., as well as information on the mother of Cicero ... would greatly be appreciated!
