Colemans of Lanark County, ON, Canada
Hello,
I'm looking to find some information about the Coleman family of Lanark, Ontario, Canada. If anyone has seen anything about them please reply to this and send me an e-mail.
Here is what I know so far:
The first Coleman in my line came to Canada came from Ulster in the 1820s. He fought in the Napoleonic wars.
My great great grandfather was James Doherty Coleman (fought in US civil war, though not an American), married Mary Jane Doherty (second cousin)
Here are a few of their children:
George Travers (1875-1947). - married Mary Bell Clark (my great grandparents)
Dalton Corry (went on to become President of the Canadian Pacific Railway - also father of prominent sports writer Jim Coleman).
Ephraim Herbert Coleman - Dean of Manitoba Law School, Undersecretary of State 1933-1949, Ambassador to Cuba (49-51) and (Brazil 51-53)
Sarah (Sadie Coleman) - Married Bert Garson
If anyone has heard anything about this group of Coleman could they please get in touch?
Many thanks.
