My maiden name was Vaughan. My father was Robt. Coleman Vaughan.Coleman was carried by this Vaughan line as a middle name back through my gg-grandfather's line.
Coleman-Vaughan/Vaughn connection.
Looking for Coleman connection to my Mr. James Vaughan & wife Sarah m. prox 1822 from Lunenburg/Mecklengurg. Jas. b. February 28, 1802 Lunenberg & Sarah b. Mecklenburg May 16, 1804 (ggg-grandparents). 1st son Jas. Madison V. b. 1802 Clarksville, VA. Their 2nd son was named Samuel Coleman Vaughan (of 11 children-8 lived to adulthood). The Coleman middle name has persisted down thru several generations in my line & related branches. Since naming convention was that family names were passed down thru the line, I'm hoping someone can point me to our Coleman connection.
Here's how the naming convention has persisted down thru my line.
1st child of James & Sarah (my 3G grandparents)
2G-GF: James Madison Vaughan, bro. named Samuel Coleman V. (Jas. killed Shiloh 4/1862)
G-GF: James Madison Coleman Vaughan (born 1861)
gfather: Spier Coleman Vaughan
father: Robert Coleman Vaughan
brothers: James Coleman Vaughan & Robert Coleman Vaughan, Jr
My 3G-Gparents: James Vaughan & Sarah (possibly a Vaughn or Coleman) m. Mecklengbug, VA.
