My grandmother was Lona E. Hicks. She was born in Madison County, Texas 1901. I have a postcard she wrote to Sheb Coldiron..her age maybe 10..I have a gut feeling that there is a possibility of relation, such as cousin, to him..just by the tone of her postcard..she writes of the Coldirons and the Shehorns..and in doing research seems as they intermarried frequently through the generations..She writes of her baby brother,Roy, passing away..and it sounds as if her father, Hicks, has already passed...along with her mother..name unknown..she writes of staying with the Shehorns, Coldirons and Jacksons...by this time it sounds as if she is in Falls County Texas. She did eventually end up with my family, Jacksons..she came to live with them after 1911 in Falls County. She died at the age of 26 in Falls County..she left two small boys..one of them, my dad. We never have been able to find out much of her..as you can see by the years...she missed the census..except the 1920..
This is a complete long shot..but if any of you have a Lona E Hicks that is just hanging out there..maybe her mother was a Shehorn or Coldiron and married into the Hicks family..please contact me...would love to find information on her and my gr-grandparents. Many Thanks
