Hello Butch: If you look at the ages of the children that you show for Blanchard & Ann Dell you will see that they are about the ages that would fit for Blanchard, Jr & Ann Gibbon - There has been a lot of discussion as to whether Blanchard, Jr. was also John Blanchard, Jr (thus making his father a John Blanchard, also) I can not find any data on John except that his name has been popping up from time to time. I believe that Blanchard was named after his grandmother's surname and that he did have a son (Jr.). It is sad that we don't realize when we are young that the history of the family is so important to some of us. I lived within a hundred yards of the site where Susan Cone (and of course her husband CJW Breland) settled when they moved from Barnwell County, SC to Colleton County, in 1854.
Susan was the granddaughter of Rachel Colding & John Cone.
I was able to visit with other "cousins" of mine who were much older and had known her (she died in 1905) and they had the family stories on which I have based some of my details within the data base. Family stories has it that she was a strong but kind woman who took no crap from anyone. She cared for her family and took care of them as long as she could. The first house burned while they were at Dr's Creek Baptist one Sunday and they had to make up their minds as to which of their children's homes they would live in until they rebuilt. They decided on their eldest son CW Breland, but, for what ever reason, they never rebuilt. Lots of the tools and farm equipment that he used was at the home where I grew up and I used some to help pay my dues as a child. This is not about the original Colding family but the strong family ties are still present in my line.

I will research the dates that you show as I have some that do not agree...often dates that are computed from census's are off by a year or so, since the misunderstanding arose when the census take would say "as of 1 Jul, how old were you children" Most of the families gave the ages as of the date that the census take was at their house.

My e-mail address is mebreland@comcast.net if you would like to continue this off forum, that is you choice.

Thanks so much, Edward
