For a long time I have pondered the possibility of finding someone for whom Rachel was his/her mom's mom's (etc.) mom. By sampling such a person, we could gain insight into the DNA of Rachel. Once that is known, there is no telling whom it might match, and what it might tell us. Well, wonder no more, as a willing participant was found and sampled, and we have the results! Rachel [(--?--)] Colclough, the wife of Benjamin Colclough had the following mtDNA type: HVR1 Haplogroup J* HVR1 differences from CRS: 16069T 16126C 16243C HVR2 differences from CRS: 73G 185A 228A 263G 295T 309.1C 315.1C 462T 489C Of course this all presumes that the descent claimed by the participant is true. I will post a partly privatized descent here, so you can satisfy yourself whether it is true or not. Rachel (maiden name unknown) Colclough (~1678-1748) Margaret (Colclough) Durham (~1721-~1780) Mary Frances (Durham) Kelly (~1745-1830) Nancy (Kelly) Williams (~1781-1854) Mary Kelly (Williams) Bishop (1817-?) Eleanor Evaline (Bishop) Briggs (1847-1932) Martha Paulina (Briggs) Forgy (1872-1987) mother of participant participant Now we just need some matches. Best, Gregg Bonner descendant of Rachel Notify Administrator about this message?
