Paul - I find it interesting that you have a Colburn in Clarendon - my husband's g-g-grandmother was Elizabeth Colburn. She came to America in 1848 - as per the census - so we figure she came because of the potato famine. She married Isaac Hall about 1852. In the NY State census of 1855 Isaac and Elizabeth are living in Clarendon with children Elizabeth - one year old and Isaac Jr., 4 months old. On the census forms and on her death certificate she says she was b. Ireland, but no specific place. Her tombstone shows date of birth 1826.
She is our brick wall - we have not been able to find where she entered the US - one aunt thinks she came into Canada and entered through Niagara Falls. Can't find a marriage certificate, either.1855 is the first definite record of her we can find.
I don't suppose you have any connections to her??
