Update on the Major Reuben Colburn book project.

The new book on the Colburns, "Patriot On The Kennebec: Major Reuben Colburn and The March To Quebec 1775: His Life And Times," will be released in 2004, or beyond.

Thomas A. Desjardin's new book, THROUGH A HOWLING WILDERNESS: Benedict Arnold and the Deadly March on Quebec, 1775 sold this week to St. Martin's Press is even more disturbing for me. He was the historian in charge of reviewing my Colburn Family research, the bulk of which is about the expedition planning and logistics run by my Great.... Grandfather Reuben Colburn. The documents including a draft of my manuscript were in his files when he took over the job of Historic Site Specialist for the Maine Dept. of Conservation, Div. of Parks and Lands.

I started giving them documents in 1999 for a new nomination for the National Register of Historic Places. He took over in the last three years as near as I can determine. Awfully suspect, and with an agent, Hawkins & Assoc., in hand who sold his current book "These Honored Dead" in 2003, well, I'm really suspicious now of the subject and the timing. I'm seeking legal help.
