Hi Deborah,
I am sure it is not William S. Colburn. There is also a record of Samuel Willard Colburn and Hannah in South Dakota in 1880, which is where the family moved to from New England. Samuel was born June 29, 1827. The only thing I can't seem to find out is who his parents were!
My guess is that William and Samuel were cousins, maybe even first cousins. Thanks for your help.
