Susan, I just noticed this census record.

Head of Household: John DOWNEY
Enumerated: 15 JUN 1860, Perry County, AL
Precinct: Brush Creek Beat
Post Office: Buck Snort
Family No: 190, p. 534
Head of Household's Occupation: Farm Laborer
Head of Household's Value of Real Estate: $ [no data]
Head of Household's Value of Personal Estate: $ [no data]
Also living in this Household: Wilson COLBURN (male, age 26, born ABT 1834 in AL) was enumerated in the household of John and Sarah DOWNEY and their 7 children. Also enumerated in this household was D. W. COLBURN (male, age 23, born ABT 1837 in AL, a Farm Laborer).
--1860 Perry County, AL Census.

While unproven, I believe that the Wilson [William Wilson] COLBURN and D. W. [David Willis] COLBURN are brothers and that D. W. is your ancestor. See next message for more on Wilson and David Willis COLBURN.

Apparently, my ancestor, David COLBURN, (Private, Company A, 28th AL Infantry, CSA) died of camp fever in Tupelo, MS on 29 June 1862.

David Colburn, Dayton, TN
