If you check the Wake County, NC records, you will find that there were several families that moved to Georgia at approximately the same time, including the Philpots, Sanders, and Wilhites. All lived next to each other in Wake and Franklin counties before moving to Georgia. Many of the family names, i.e., Philpot, Sanders, Wilhite, i.e., are included in the Colbert names. Example: Sanders Wilhite Colbert moved to what is now Colbert, GA. But the Sanders and Colbert and Philpot families also moved to other locations in Georgia after the American Revolution.
