Does anyone know the first name of Miss COLBERT who married John CROSBY?JOHN T. CROSBY, JR., b.ca 1785 in Chester Co., SC, and died ca. 1840 Monroe Co.,MS. He married Miss COLBERT Abt. 1810 near Buzzard Roost Spring, Colbert Co., AL, daughter of LEVI COLBERT and MINTIOHOYO. John, his brothers Leonard, and William CROSBY had come from Lawrence County, TN which was near Buzzard Roost Spring and settled near Cotton Gin Port in about 1820. John m. a dau. of a Chickasaw Indian chief named Levi Colbert. Most likely after Levi Colbert sold his interest in Colbert's Ferry near Buzzard Roost Spring, John Crosby moved to Cotton Gin Port as well as his brother William and Leonard who m. Sarah PURCELL. Children of JOHN CROSBY and UNKNOWN COLBERT are: 1. SUSAN A. CROSBY, b. 05-July-1815; d. Monroe Co., MS. She married (1) HEMP H. WATTS 14-Nov- 1838 in Monroe Co, MS, son of WATTS. She married (2) WILEY HARRIS 24-October-1860 in Monroe Co., MS, son of ISHAM HARRIS and ELIZABETH HARRIS. In 1850, Lowndes Co., MS Hemp and Susan are living next to Jon J/I/E. Mayfield, age 34 and his wife Rachel P. age 38, b. SC. 2. JONATHAN PETER 'JETTER' CROSBY, b.March-1818 and died Bet. 1905 - 1906 in Tamaha, IT (now OK). He married (1) JOANNAH T. 'SUSANNAH' CAIN 29-October-1839 in Monroe Co., MS, daughter of WILLIAM CAIN and ANNIE NAIL / NEAL. He married (2) CATHERINE POWERS 06-January-1880 in Dallas Co., TX. Anne NAIL / NEAL was the d/o John NAIL / NEAL, RWS; b. 1760 d. 1840 Monroe Co., MS who had resided in SC and Wilkes & Franklin Co., GA. 3. SARAH ANN CROSBY was born Abt. 1821 in neal Buzzard Roost Spring, Colbert Co., AL, and died Bef. February-1864 in New Orleans, LA. She married THOMAS S. LANDRUM Abt. 1842 in Monroe Co., MS, son of HENRY LANDRUM and RACHEL JOHNSON.
