email addresses for MJ Colbert are not working, but I'd like to learn more also.
My g-grandfather was James Canary (said to have been Keniry) b. abt 1821-25, and he came from Waterford in 1847 per the census. On his death certificate, his mother is listed as Mary COLBERT. Family went from NY to VT to OH and (most) ended up in Chicago, where they remained. In the 1880 census VT, there is a COLBERT family living in his household: Thomas 34, Johanna 33, Mary 7, Martin 5, Dennis 4, Thomas 2 and John 1.
I think there's a connection here but I don't know what. When you go to Ireland, would you look for those Kenirys as well?
