Is your Jesse Colbert from Hampshire Co., VA (later West Virginia)? I see the IGI lists a Jesse Colbert, b 19 sep 1834 in Capon Springs, Hampshire, VA. Parents are listed as Jesse Colbert & Sarah McKee. See FHL #452,049 for source of information. I am researching a John J. Colbert, b.c. 1828 in VA. He was married to a Susan Ann Fletcher in Hampshire Co., VA on 18 Aug 1853. He lists his father's name as Anthony Colbert on the marriage license. His son John A. Colbert was born in VA about 1855. His son George W. Colbert was b.c. 1863 in Indiana. Both John A. & George W. Colbert later lived in Macoupin Co., Illinois.
