Hi, Betty:

I am also a 4th great grandchild of Joseph Davis and Rachel Colbert, and have been tracking the family from Maryland to Ohio, then from Indiana to Illinois. I found the following on page 12 in the Fountain County, Indiana Abstract of First Book of Wills (1827-1851) and Original Land Records, compiled by Miriam Luke G.R.S.:

Page 209 - Ealey Colbert, to daughters, Mary Ann Martin, and Rachel Davis; to Emeline maring; and to Rachel and Lissyann, "all heirs of John T. Martin." Worthy and esteemed friends, John T. Martin, Executor. Dated August 4, 1841. Witnesses: J. Hole, William Hole. Probated April 1, 1841.

I am thinking that "Ealey" is "Alsey" or the reverse, and this shows the Colberts in Fountain County as well as the Samuel Davis family. I also knew nothing of the Martin family, so hopefully that will help us as well.

Let me know what you think, or if you have further information.
