What about the slaves of the Colbert family line? Do you know the location of this
family's plantation? Were the slaves on this plantation Indians, Blacks, or a mixture of the same? My ggf was named Benjamin Colbert. He lived in Appling or Grovetown, Ga. This area is outside of Augusta, Ga. My grandfather was named Moses Colbert. He married Ms. Sally Lee ,from that same area. Sally father was white. In the pictures that the family have of her , Sally looks like an Indian. Sally and Moses married and had 12 children. My father, Robert Willie Colbert Sr., is their second oldest son. Their oldest son, Moses Jr.,was killed in New York at the age of 40. Moses and Sally Colbert lived as sharecroppers in the Grovetown area for years.
I hope this can help someone out there give me the information I need.
