I have always assumed that the spelling of my last name was correct as COLBET, though it was commonly "misspelled" as COLBERT. In researching my family history, I have stumbled upon various articles in which my great-grandfather's name is spelled "COLBERT." Since I have little information on his ancestry, I do not know whether this deviation is simply a misprint or the original spelling of my surname. The only info I have regarding my great-grandfather is as follows: Ulric (sometimes spelled "Ulrich") Francis COLBET b. 1895 d. 8/30/43 on 4/29/16, married Katherine "Katie" Leckich his mother's name was Ada 2 sisters, Hazel and Maude 1 brother, Levert 4 children, Ulric Levert 1/29/17-2/28/17, Edward George (my grandfather) 7/2/18-11/15/93, Devoy, a Mrs. L.G. Richards I am very eager to learn if my name may have originated as COLBERT. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Much Thanks!
