Hello Morgan,

How nice to find another searcher of Jesse and Frances Colbert. I am a descendant of their son, Jesse who moved to Daviess County, IN. Two other children of Jesse and Frances also came to Daviess Co., IN - Alice Colbert Jackson and Toliver Colbert. George Colbert went to Wells Co., IN. Frances went to live with George and died in Wells Co., IN in 1867 and is buried on his farm. This little family cemetery has river stones for markers, no inscriptions. Some of the children and granchildren went to Wabash Co., IN. Nancy Colbert Boswell and Lucinda Colbert Putman went to IL. If you search on this forum under Jesse and Frances you can find a great deal of research added by Vikki Ireland on all of the children as well as what is known of Jesse and Frances.

Unfortunately, none of the researchers I know have been able to determine Jesse's parents or Frances' maiden name. No marriage record has been found for this couple.

Several years ago I entered a cousin's DNA in the Calvert/Colbert DNA study. His DNA matched, exactly, a number of other participants. This has indicated that Jesse's origins were in Prince William/Stafford Conty's in Virginia and that the last name was likely orginaly Calvert.

There is a large group of searchers for this family. We all certainly hope, some day, to determine the parent's of Jesse and Frances.

Libby
