Hi,
I'm trying to track down some Colbert relatives out in Texas. The last I heard they were in the Amarillo area. My father was Marion Williams, 1895-1965. His parents were John and Nellie(or Nilia or Mary) Williams both of whom, we believe, migrated from Tennesses sometime before 1895. Anyway, my Dad had a sister, born between 1894 and 1904, who married a Colbert. At the time this aunt would have probably been living within an hour or two's drive from the Abilene area. I do know that she moved with Colbert to the Amarillo area at some point and did have children. My grandmother (Nellie, or Nilia, or Mary Robertson) died there in 1952. When she died I do believe my grandmother had a different last name as I believe she remarried after the death of her first husband, John Williams. In addition to the aunt, my grandparents had my father and another son, Robert Leonard Williams b. about 1899 or so. Robert died at a very young age in 1922 or 23. He is buried in Abiline. His son, Robert Leonard Williams, Jr. lived for the last 20 or 30 years of his life in Eastland, Tx. He remembered being at his(and my) grandmother's funeral in Amarillo in 1952 where he met some of his Colbert cousins. I got to meet Bob, my first cousin, a few month before he died a couple of years ago.
Do any of these names or places ring a bell on your family tree? I would love to connect with this side of my family. They are the last relatives left in Texas, at least those with a Williams connection.
