The Colbert family has always said they were Native American, but I have never found the connection. My cousins tell me that our grandfather told them many times that he was part Indian. The story is told about CP Colbert going to "sign up" as being Indian, but got impatient due to the crowd in line before him and told his son he "didn't have time for that" and left. I don't know why the migration to IT if they weren't Indian, but have also noticed a lot of my line followed the same routes.
