family history (some scribbles, mostly verbal - my line is scots/french) says that the Comte de Colbert (of France) married the daughter of William Lee of Waterford in Ireland - I think in the 17th C but have to look it up - could be how the name got to Ireland?

Know the family (mine anyway) sloshed around from France to Scotland, Ireland and a few other places - just started trying to trace things myself so ... sorry no more yet :-(
